From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishSky TVSky TV /ˌskaɪ tiː ˈviː/ (also Sky, BskyB) a television company owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation, which operates several different television channels that broadcast programmes in the UK. For example, there is a news channel as well as several sports and film channels. In order to receive its programmes, you have to pay money to Sky and have a satellite dish on your house. Some Sky channels can also be seen on cable and digital TV. Many new films and many of the most important sports events are shown only on Sky.
